PRENATAL CARE SCHEDULE

The following is an estimate of what to expect throughout the course of your pregnancy. Appointments, laboratory testing, and ultrasounds may vary based on each individual patient’s needs. 

INITIAL VISIT

+ Brief ultrasound will be performed to confirm pregnancy.

+ A detailed history and physical will be performed which may include breast exam, pap smear, gonorrhea and chlamydia testing as well as a blood draw for routine laboratory testing including state-mandated HIV testing.

+ Carrier screening test is optional and may be performed at any time prior to or during pregnancy.

APPROXIMATE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULE

+ Routine prenatal visit every 4 weeks until 28 weeks gestation

+ Routine prenatal visit every 2-3 weeks until 36 weeks gestation

+ Routine prenatal visit every week until delivery

ROUTINE ULTRASOUND/LABORATORY TESTING

+ 18-22 weeks: Anatomy Ultrasound performed in our office

+ 26-28 weeks: 1-hour glucose challenge test for gestational diabetes screening, Rhogam injection for Rh negative patients, pre-register at St. Luke’s Hospital Maternity Center

+ 27-36 weeks: Tdap vaccination recommended to all pregnant women

+ 35-37 weeks: Growth ultrasound, Group B strep swab
